Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed
Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
Chimney Cleaning Before & After in Freeport, NY
We’ve been cleaning chimneys in Freeport since 1984. After 42 years, we don’t need to tell you our work holds up. We can show you. The photos below are from actual jobs across Nassau County, from Roosevelt to Merrick to right here in Freeport. Each one tells the same story: a chimney left too long becomes a hazard, and a proper sweep brings it back to safe, working order.
Recent Transformations
Heavy Creosote Buildup, Freeport Colonial

The homeowner in Freeport’s northeast neighborhood near Sunrise Highway hadn’t had a sweep in six years. When we ran our camera, we found glazed creosote a quarter-inch thick in spots, the kind that burns at 2,000 degrees if it ignites. We used mechanical rotary cleaning to break it down, then a chemical treatment for the stubborn layers. The flue went from fire hazard to passing inspection in one visit. Our Level-2 camera inspection gave them photos they could see and a plain-English verdict: safe to burn.
Blocked Flue from Bird Nesting, Merrick Road Area

A family near Merrick Road called because their living room smelled like a campfire even when the fireplace was cold. We found a starling nest packed tight above the smoke shelf, plus two failed nesting attempts below it. We removed the material, swept the flue, and installed a Gelco stainless steel cap with proper mesh screening. No more birds, no more downdraft odors, and no more worry about CO backing up into the house.
Fallen Liner Debris, Roosevelt Border

This chimney was on a 1960s cape near the Roosevelt line, the kind we see plenty of in Freeport’s older neighborhoods. The original clay liner had cracked and shed pieces into the flue. We cleared the debris, ran a camera to map the damage, then installed a DuraFlex stainless steel liner with proper insulation. The homeowner got photos of every stage and a written report for their records. Most of the work was done in a single day, and the 90-Day Done Right Promise covers it in writing, no arguing.
Soot-Stained Fireplace Face, Freeport Village

The brick surround on this Freeport Village fireplace had turned nearly black above the lintel. The real problem wasn’t cosmetic, it was a partially blocked flue combined with a smoke chamber that needed parging. We swept the flue, sealed the smoke chamber with HeatShield, and treated the brick with a non-acidic cleaner that pulled the soot without damaging the 1920s face brick. The owner told us it looked like the fireplace she’d bought the house for.
Neglected Oil Flue, South Freeport

Oil flues don’t get the attention wood-burning chimneys do, but they need it just the same. This one in south Freeport, near the water, hadn’t been opened in over a decade. The soot was granular and deep enough to restrict draft, which means an oil burner running inefficiently and pumping dollars out the stack. We swept it to NFPA 211 standard, ran the camera, and gave the homeowner photos and a written condition report for their insurance file. No surprises on the bill, the number on the estimate was the number on the invoice.
Chimney Cap Failure, Baldwin Harbor Adjacent

Water is what destroys chimneys in Freeport, between the coastal humidity and the freeze-thaw cycles we get every winter. This crown had cracked through to the flue tiles, and the cheap galvanized cap had rusted out completely. We rebuilt the crown with proper slope and drip edge, then installed a stainless steel cap with mesh screening. The materials came from Copperfield, the same brand we use on every job. No builder-grade substitutes. Done right, and we stand behind it.
